Mural at University Art
I recently completed a mural inside University Art in Sacramento. The mural consisted of three characters; Nina Simone, Miles Davis and Grant Green. I painted the characters along with some added design and color on the entrance wall to the East. All the characters were painted using Montana Gold spray paint. For the background i took a bunch of sheet music and tore it into small pieces. I then layered it on piece by piece creating the flow of music out of the horn. Below is a stitched image of two photos i took. Goto the Murals page to see more photos. I also added a few links below for the characters in the mural.
Miles Davis - “Round Midnight”
Grant Green - “California Green”

I recently had the opportunity to do a pair of limited edition custom Vans for the Grouch. Doing research and putting ideas together for the different panels, heels, and tongues was fun but challenging at the same time. I ended up lacing both inside and outside panels with torn up sheet music, then using a glaze to reflect green. On the heels of both shoes i put my logo, and for the tongues i decided to do a portrait of his daughter and wife. Scribed on the inside of the left tongue is “Motivation is key” and on the right tongue “Innovation is my A R T”. Signed them and that was that. The Grouch and i met up when he was in town on his latest tour “How the Grouch stole Christmas”. I gave him the shoes and he seemed pleased. We took pictures and video of the shoes and i’ll post those as soon as i get them. Till then i posted a photo breakdown of the shoes so you can see them. I’ve also added some links for the Grouch below the shoe pics.

I recently came across some old photos I had of a mural that Hermano and i did last year. The mural was painted with Montana Gold spray paint. The birds were cut out of wood then drilled into the slat wall using spacers so they would pop off the exterior at varied depths. The mural is on the side of BonAir Market on 26th and J street. Below is a photo I took. Goto the Murals page for more photos

I linked up with my boy Asia for another project. He’s going on tour again, this time he’s gonna be accompanied by Slick Rick and others. As soon as i get the full list of artists on the tour i’ll edit the post. But anyhow, he wanted the tour logo redesigned along with some shirts and various other things. This was the first design i a came up with. Still working on more and i’ll post those when they’re finished. But for now, here’s all i have…

Earlier this year I met some hip-hop kats from Iceland. Rain is a dope Emcee who has a serious passion for music and it shows in his rhymes. Troopa is the Producer… and that kat is no joke. His beats have you stuck for days! Trust me, I had his single “Peaceful Thinking” on repeat for months. Anyway, I really liked there sound and they liked my work, so we decided to team up and make an EP. As soon as they release the album I’ll add a link so you can snatch it up. Below is a breakdown of the cover and poster i designed for the album.

Custom Kicks!
Recently my friend Orbits got me into painting custom Vans. I’ve never tried doing shoes before so it seemed like it’d be fun. I have about four pairs total now and currently have some ideas in progress for a few more. Below are two of the four and when I get some more photographs i’ll post the other two. The first pair I did was for E-40. He had a photoshoot for “Murder Dog Magazine” and was interested in some custom shoes. So the first breakdown below are the finished product. The second breakdown was done for a clothing company outta New Jersey called Hypothesis Inc. There logo is a silleutte of an octopus so I took that and flipped my own.

Microsoft Messenger Skins
My good friend Ferris Plock was contacted by Microsoft to put together a team of artists. The purpose of the group was to submit designs for new background skins for MSN Messenger. So Ferris hit me up and asked me to submit five designs. And this is what I came up with. Below are the original illustrations next to the final colored versions.

Planet Asia DVD Design
Since I met Asia and Walt (Asia’s Manager) in 2004 it’s been nothing but good vibes and cool projects. The first project was Asia’s first documentry dvd which covered the past few years of his carrer and travels. It’s a dope dvd, you should definitley grab a copy.
They had approached me about designing the dvd and since I did most of Asia’s photography for 2005 and early 2006 it seemed like it’d be a fun project, not to mention i’d have a chance to use pretty much all original photography of my own so that made it even better. Below is the layout for the actual dvd sleeve and dvd graphic. Along with that are the original photos I took.

Synthesis Magazine Cover
I was fortunate to be approached by Synthesis Magazine and asked to do there Jan/Feb 2006 cover. The main article was on E-40, so naturally that was gonna be the focus for the cover. Being from Northern Cali myself as well as a big E-40 fan, I couldn’t resist such an offer. Below I posted the original illustration next to the final image fully colored. I also included the final design I presented even though they changed it for the final version. They didn’t like my color choice of the olive green, but what can i say, I love earthtones! I guess they just wanted to rock the red, white and blue instead.
